Wills and Probate
Wills and Probate is intended for attorneys who are new to estate planning or transitioning into the practice. It will explore foundational concepts related to wills and probate and the rules governing each. The presentation will provide an overview of wills, explore the pros and cons of will-based estate planning (as opposed to intestacy and trust-based planning), and address the legal requirements associated with wills. The presentation will also provide an overview of the probate process, addressing what happens in each phase of a probate proceeding. Although intended for practitioners new to estate planning, this presentation may also provide food-for-thought for more experienced practitioners seeking new ways to communicate with their clients.
