Regular price
$99.00
This presentation will focus on how you can help clients who are contemplating or going through a divorce. In this course, we will
- learn the major income, gift, and estate tax issues that may arise during the divorce process;
- explore the differences and impacts on asset division for clients living in community property states versus common law states;
- gain an understanding that state laws may automatically void certain aspects of a client’s existing estate plan when the divorce is finalized;
- emphasize the importance of the client reviewing and updating their overall estate plan and specific planning tools in a timely manner; and
- recognize the unintended tax and nontax consequences when retirement assets and individual retirement accounts (IRAs) are not properly transferred and beneficiary designations are not updated in a timely manner.
This course is eligible for 1.0 credit.
