Buy-Sell Agreements: Important but Often Overlooked Drafting Issues

Buy-Sell Agreements: Important but Often Overlooked Drafting Issues

Regular price $129.00

Buy-Sell Agreements are critical documents for closely-held, multi-owner businesses. Part revocable living trust and part post-nuptial agreement, a buy-sell agreement contemplates what happens to equity ownership upon the occurrence of certain life events.

Unfortunately, too many people use inadequate “forms” to create these critical documents, resulting in inequities, lawsuits, and increased taxes. During this webinar, Attorney Paul Bernstein will discuss some very important, but often overlooked, issues that should be considered when drafting a buy-sell agreement.

In addition, the recent federal District Court case of Connelly v. US Department of Treasury case will be discussed. In that case, the Court agreed with the IRS and included the death benefit of a corporate life insurance policy used to fund a buy-sell agreement in the value of the business, resulting in increased estate taxes, leaving less for the family. Learn how to mitigate this issue for your clients.
