The Valuation and Reporting of Cryptocurrency on Income, Gift, and Estate Tax Returns

During this session, a primer on Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, with an emphasis on important topics facing trusts and estates professionals will be presented. We will explore existing and new tax regulations crafted specifically for valuing cryptocurrencies, and how they have approached cryptocurrency valuations in the context of charitable gifting, intrafamily gifting, and estate tax returns.
We will also learn about Qualified Appraisal requirements, regulations for pricing cryptocurrencies, blockage discounts, and other topics. This session will also include a review of the technical workings of cryptocurrencies, to provide participants with conversant knowledge of this constantly evolving asset class.
