The Future of Estate Planning
How do the recent elections, including the Senate runoff elections in Georgia, affect estate planning moving forward? At various times President-Elect Biden has called for a lower federal estate tax exemption, higher income tax rates (including on capital gains), the elimination of income tax basis step-up at death, and even the deemed sale of assets at death or when lifetime gifts are made. Changing demographics involving retiring baby boomers moving from high-tax states into lower or no-tax states are also relevant. This webinar will discuss these recent developments, and will explore various planning strategies an estate planning attorney may utilize to help counteract the same.
